Teacherz is a place for teachers to share ideas, connect with other teachers, and support the people creating the things that make teaching better. It’s a place to discover the real people behind the resources, ideas, and inspiration we use in our classrooms.
I’m Amanda, a former K-1 teacher, mom, and “teacherpreneur”. My journey started in 1997 when I created A to Z Teacher Stuff to organize and share free resources for teachers.
By 2001, I was selling downloadable teaching resources online. Soon I was selling resources from other teachers too, splitting the sales with them and helping promote their work to the sizable audience of teachers who were visiting my free pages on A to Z .
This was before teacher marketplaces became the center of the online teacher world.
The early teacher internet was an amazing place. We made friends with other teachers online, shared ideas and classroom fun, and linked to each other. It was a teacher-led community. Teachers had eliminated the need for a middle man. We self-published and the money flowed from teacher to teacher.
Then the internet changed. Teacher created resources became a huge industry and big companies started to invest in it. Social media replaced much of the old teacher blogging network. Algorithms started deciding what we saw. Teachers spread out across marketplaces, websites, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, and everywhere else.
Teachers began to lose what made the early internet so exciting: direct collaboration, teacher to teacher, with no one stepping in to get rich off of what we created.
That’s why I’m building teacherz.
This idea has been decades in the making. I bought the teacherz.com domain in 2005, not really knowing when or how it would happen.
But now it feels obvious: NOW IS THE TIME.
Teacherz is not another marketplace. It’s about getting back to the heart of why teachers create in the first place.
Teachers want to make a difference. Teachers want to help other teachers.
And teachers deserve to build something and have someone actually find it.
How many times have you posted something to Facebook only to realize that even the people who chose to follow you probably never saw it?
Teacher creators should be able to share something useful without having to become experts in Facebook ads, email marketing, algorithms, and a dozen different technologies.
And teachers looking for ideas and resources should be able to follow the people they choose and actually see what they share.
Teachers want to be inspired and connected.
Technology is changing fast, especially with AI. We need genuine human connection, experience, creativity, and trust now more than ever.
And when another teacher creates something that saves us time, helps us reach a child, or makes our classroom better, we want that teacher to succeed.
That’s the heart of teacherz. We’re here for the teachers. ❤️
